Urban environments are shaped by how we move through them, meet others, and choose to stay. Aubette is an outdoor seating collection designed for everyday use, with a focus on semi-public environments such as courtyards, museum gardens, terraces, and spaces that mediate between private and public use.
The project was developed in collaboration with the Czech public-space furniture company mmcité. I wanted to understand how the dialogue between designer and manufacturer unfolds—learning from their expertise in durable outdoor products while exploring how an idea becomes real through people as much as materials. Aubette explores construction as part of its visual language, where each component remains visible and intentional. Bent and screwed aluminium plates provide stability while enabling varied colour and finish combinations. It turns the collection into a subtle tool of expression, allowing it to reflect the identity of cafés, museums, parks, or city districts. Designed for long-term outdoor use, it remains robust yet adaptable, enabling parts to be repaired or replaced over time.
